We’re happy to announce that on Feb 4th, 2021 we began rolling out the publicly-available beta versions of Membrit for iOS, Android, Windows & Mac (it should take about a week for them all be available). It’s been a long development process, because while the idea of reviewing your thoughts seems straight-forward, making the experience as helpful and natural as possible was challenging (and led to my alter-ego/nickname). And that’s critical because to get the most out of Membrit you actually have to make it a part of your daily routine; which you’ll only do if it make sense, and doesn’t get in your way — as you would expect of your personal memory assistant.
Why is it a beta release? Well, ok, it’s probably more stable than many mature products (Randy and I have been producing software for a long time). That said, we want to get a sense for how people are using it to help us fill in some of the social features. So during beta you can use all of Membrit for free! When the beta ends, you’ll need to subscribe to access some of the features.
While Membrit appears simple, there’s a lot of functionality under the surface. Also, our sharing model is very privacy centric — you have to opt-in to almost everything, and non-public shared pictures remain under your control. Membrit is not about likes and popularity. It’s about keeping important things on your mind.
Over the coming weeks and months, we will be producing videos to show you how to get the most out of Membrit. But the best way to learn is to use it! The initial welcome story in the app will give you the basics. From there it’s up to you. We will send notifications to remind you to review you Membrits, and also for certain Membrits where you want them sent. Also, play with the Membrit Cadence — that’s the best way to learn — and remember what to remember!
